Summary

Sanctus were employed to carry out the remediation, earthworks and enabling works at a former coal and Orimulsion fired power station, on an all risk lump sum basis.

The demolition works included;

  • Demolition of
    • 20,000m2 Heavily reinforced concrete slabs, foundations and foundation piles
    • 4,000m2 Cooling Tower Base and associated foundations
    • 300 linear metres of 3m diameter cooling water pipes
    • Chimney Bases
    • Turbine Bases
    • Turbine Hall and Welfare Block basement structures
  • Licensed asbestos removal
  • Onsite remediation of buried asbestos and hydrocarbon contaminated soils surrounding structures
  • 65,000m3 cut to fill earthworks
  • Onsite crushing to produce a graded 6F2 aggregate to construct 2.5Ha piling mat
  • Design and construction of a Gabion Retaining Wall against partially demolished basement
  • Bacel foam filling of cooling water pipe below remaining structures.
